Special presentation for Kivgiq! Thanks to Qinugan Roddy, Sikkattuaq Harcharek, Ahvaiyak Richards and Ahvaiyak Patkotak for helping to teach and coach our students!

Ipalook wrapped up Cultural Spirit week with a Cultural Connection on Friday afternoon. Mayor Harry K. Brower and CAO, Deano Olemaun, kicked off the event by sharing the importance of Iñuit Day and Eben Hopson's wisdom with our 1st-5th grade students.  After the presentation, students had an opportunity to Eskimo Dance. Check out the picture video below.

Thank you to all of the parents/families of K3-K4 children who attended our ECE Project Night on Thursday, September 29th. We had an excellent turn-out and we look forward to hosting another project night in the future. The project was tied to the Umiaq Unit, “Where Did My Name Come From?” The unit focused on how children are named in different cultures.  Parents/guardians and children decorated a placard with their child’s cultural or English name also designed a paper doll representing the child and their culture. A special thanks to our K3-K4 teachers: Kris Nesteby, Lola Tukrook, Marie Sakar, Tammy Christin and Rachel Panamarioff for all of their prep work and making sure that things ran smoothly.

Quyanaqpak to Herman Ahsoak and Alu Brower for sharing their knowledge of whaling with our Ipalook Elementary students! See below for a photo slideshow of the event. Photo credit to Tuniq Danner.
