Josh Hinds Joshua Hinds was raised in Mishawaka, Indiana where he graduated from Mishawaka High School and was a proud member of the Mishawaka ‘Cavemen’ Cross-Country, Swimming, Communications and Theatre programs.

After graduating from High School, Mr. Hinds enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as an Aircraft Electrical and Environmental Systems Specialist at Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina. While serving our Nation, both at home and abroad, Mr. Hinds also completed his Associate of Arts Degree through Campbell University in Buises Creek, NC.  
 
After being honorably discharged in March of 2000, Mr. Hinds enrolled at Indiana University where he completed his Bachelor’s of Science Degree with a major in Elementary Education in 2002. Beginning his teaching career in the Spring of 2003 Mr. Hinds has had the wonderful experience of teaching in a variety of contents and context. He has experience in teaching Special Education, Elementary, Middle and High School Students. Moving to Alaska in the fall of 2008, Mr. Hinds first taught outside of Bethel, AK in the village of Akiachak where he taught 5th and 6th grade classrooms and coached a variety of sports, including as an assistant coach on the school’s State-Runner-up Basketball Team.

After moving to Barrow, AK in 2010, Mr. Hinds began teaching at Hopson Middle School where he has taught both Math and Science 6th grade classes. He has coached in the Hopson Wolves Cross-Country, Football, and Basketball programs. Mr. Hinds has also served as a member of the Hopson Middle School’s School Improvement Team, the HMS Positive Behavior Intervention and Support Team, and mentored new teachers within HMS.

Mr. Hinds graduated from the University of Alaska Anchorage in May of 2014 with a Master of Education in Educational Leadership degree. Mr. Hinds has worked very hard to earn both his educational achievements and his professional experience and he believes in the power of hard work, determination and persistence.

Mr. Hinds is extremely excited to be involved in his role at HMS. He will work hard to support student learning and work with teachers, students, parents and the community to provide as safe, positive and effective a learning environment as possible for our HMS students.
